“The Wise Woman’s Stone”

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.

“I’ve been thinking,” he said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.”

Update

Well friendo’s, I don’t think I will be able to raise the money for the D.C. walk in May, HOWEVER, the good news is I am signed up for the Charlotte walk in October, which will give me more time to raise the funds, and it will go to our local people in need.  So thanks to those who helped me raise the money I have, and I know the money thats went to the D.C. walk will be used to help someone in that community.  Kari V Photography will be doing another fundraiser with me in March for Easter photos, so if interested, please let me know.  Thanks and God bless!

Okie Dokie

Okie dokie folks, here’s some of the things I have going on right now.  For anyone who donates a $1, you have the option of receiving a pink bracelet, a slice of my delicious buttermilk pie (doesn’t taste like buttermilk), or a batch of 4 cookies.  Remember, proceeds go towards my Avon Walk, and the fight against Breast Cancer!

Just placed my first order on the pink ribbon bracelets to give out to those who donate a $1.00 to the cause.  With the support of family and friends, I should be able to raise some money pretty quickly towards the cause, and continue using them for fundraisers.

Status Update

So far, I have raised $283.00 out of $1,800.00 with 128 days left.  My goal for the months of December - April is to maintain a goal of $360/month, so I am short $77.00 for this month.  But no biggie, just have to work harder on the next couple of months to maintain it.  Going to do a small bake sale this weekend, and hopefully make some extra money that way to make up the difference, and with starting school back in the next few weeks that will give me a bigger outlet to receive donations!

     Did you know that every 3 minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer?

     I didn’t, but after reading that startling statistic, I’ve decided to do something about it.  I will take steps toward ending breast cancer by participating int he Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, D.C., a weekend-long walk of up to 39.3 miles.  It will take a lot of training and preparation, but I’m committed to doing whatever it takes.  I am IN IT TO END IT!

     I need your help to raise at least $18,000 in donations.  You may already know someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.  If you don’t, chances are someday you will.  Now is the time to take action.  Your tax-deductible donation can help ensure that we can make those statistics decline and that those already suffering can get the care and treatment that everyone deserves.

     Funds raised by Avon Walkers are awarded by the Avon Foundation for Women, with a focus on making sure women and men get the care and treatment they need regardless of their ability to pay and to ultimately find a cure for breast cancer.  You can learn more about the Foundation at avonfoundation.org.
